6/21/2023 0 Comments Cisco 3750 software upgradeOften one can replace the fans, reformat the flash file system and have the device continue to work like new for many years (with new fans of course). Once the fans die (or something else overheats a Cisco switch or router) I have seen the only damage to be to the flash file system. So with this kind of archive (and the start-up configuration) it is possible to bring the switch back to exactly as it was even with the flash file system completely erased. of course once you have completely erased flash and not yet put back the IOS you don't want to loose power :) Even if you did, it would still be possible to very slowly upload a bootable image with Xmodem via a serial console and recover. I'll even format the flash file system "format flash:" prior to reloading the files. I have often used this technique to exactly replicate the IOS version of a switch before adding it to a stack. It downloads the tar (archive) file from the TFTP server and extracts the files writing them back to flash. ![]() The " archive download-sw" does the exact opposite. ![]() Now its archive all the files to 1 file, whats happen if I want to recover how I should do it ?
